Over the last few days, my team has been going to a local street and making friends with the people. We have been going into local stores for items we need and talking with the owners and other people there. One woman in particular has caught our attention.
Ye (pronounced “yeah”), is a Thai woman who has lived in Chiang Mai all her life. She is cooking food to sell in front of her friend’s bar. The food is incredible, if I do say so. the beef curry is my favorite so far. She is very outgoing and her English is very good. So far she has taught us some Thai, we have taught her some English, and we are simply establishing a friendship with her and the bar owner. Both women are smiling, joyful people set right in the middle of the local community. They could be incredible partners for our contact in the future, and my team is praying for even more opportunities to connect with Ye and other locals.
Since we only have about a week left here, we are hoping to leave a friendly lasting impression on these people, so our contact can send more teams in and continue the relationship after we leave.
