This month, Full Throttle was paired with a ministry called 9000 Souls. This ministry has two parts (evangelism and discipleship) focused on one goal (people accepting Christ and following him wholeheartedly). Most of what my team could do this month was evangelism. So for most of the ministry days, for at least 4 hours each day, we did street evangelism.

If one has no experience in this type of ministry, it is extremely hard to get excited about it. I knew almost nothing. The extent of what I could share at the beginning of the month was my testimony. I’m slightly more prepared now, but I still need to more to know more. There are many questions I could not answer well, and many I had to simply let God put words into my mouth. It was unsettling knowing nothing, and it didn’t get any easier. Almost every day I would try to figure it ways to get out of going, and I never could.

We did get to spend a small amount of time doing discipleship, and pouring into the workers in the ministry. I also got to spend a few days with a discipleship camp at the Black Sea.

Here’s what I learned this month doing this ministry:
1. I learned very quickly that I am not the bold person to say “Do you know Jesus” before I hear about someone’s life story. I want to know everything I can about them before I show them how Jesus saved them.
2. Discipleship and follow up is as important as telling people about Jesus. They need to know what Jesus said about how to live life after being saved.
3. I am WAY better at the discipleship and personal relationships than evangelism.

Through this month, God has show me that I need to know more about evangelism, and how to bring someone to Christ, but I need to be even that much better at training and discipling others to share God’s gospel. My calling is focused on discipleship. We shall see where God takes this in future years!
