Here is my monthly summary of travel between countries!! Enjoy!
Team Palpable Presence traveled to Riga on May 20th, and spent a couple days there for adventure and LDW (see previous posts).
While we were in Riga, teams switched up, and we are beginning to switch over to new squad leaders, so our teams were shuffled to four squad leaders, and three teams of seven people. Two of those teams and the squad leaders left the mission center where we had LDW around 23:00 on Tuesday, after saying goodbye to the team that was staying for one more night.
We move to the bus station and spent a few hours there, leaving Riga, Latvia, at 02:55 Monday by bus. It was already becoming dawn as we left the station at 03:00. The teams and squad leaders got into Lithuania’s capital at 06:45, switched buses quickly and left again at 07:00. We arrived in Warsaw, Poland around 14:30. The last team left Riga around 07:00, and arrived in Warsaw around 19:00.
Two of the teams and the squad leaders two teams were at the central bus station for about 2 hours, then moved to a different bus station for our overnight ride to Ukraine. The two teams left the Warsaw station at 7:40, leaving our squad leaders there, and the last team joined the squad leaders right as we were leaving.
The two teams that were traveling overnight stopped at one bus stop around midnight, and then at the border into Ukraine around 03:30 Thursday. The border crossing was not complicated, but it did take a long time to get all the way through exit control out of Poland, and then through entrance into Ukraine. This included an extreme amount of sitting around and waiting. We left the final checkpoint around 05:30.
My new team arrived in Lviv, Ukraine at 06:40, said goodbye to the other team as they got on a train to their final destination, and were at our new ministry site around 07:45.
Again, lots of travel involved to get to our Month Six, but the people, conversations, and experience make it worth it!!
