On Saturday, we were up early, packed up our stuff, and left our ministry site around 9am. We traveled about 2.5 hours to Phnom Penh. We spent the afternoon and night there.
During our layover in Phnom Penh, we visited S-21, the prison of Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge leader. 12000-25000 people went through this prison during his reign. Only 12 people survived. The prison is now a museum for the public. The pictures and stories are horrendous. There are rooms and rooms of the pictures of the prisoners right before taken to the killing fields outside the city. Walking through the rooms, all I could think was “Father, so many people.” Few, if any, knew who Son was, much less that he could save them. It was devastating. I am still overwhelmed, and probably will never be able to get those images out of my head. Nor do I want to get them out completely. This is another evil that Father will somehow overcome. As it stands, hopefully the world has learned a lesson from this story of the Khmer Rouge. Evil still exists because Son has not returned. Do not wait to tell people about him, because you may not get the chance.
Continuing in our travels, we were up around 6:30 on Sunday to pack up, and got on a bus at 8:30am to our next country!
Our bus ride from Cambodia to Month Three* capital city was about 7 hours. That ride was fairly uneventful, although we did have the border crossing halfway through the ride. We arrived in the capital city around 3:30pm, and caught a 6:30pm bus to D*. This second bus took 19 hours. It was single seats that were recliners for sleeping! There were colored lights and loud music, and no bathroom… We made it anyway. The side of the road was a pretty normal bathroom for our team.
Once we arrived in D*, we were met by our interpreter, Kel*, and he got us a taxi. We somehow fit eight people (driver included), seven big pack, seven small packs, a guitar, and miscellaneous other packs into this taxi, and headed to our hotel. Thankfully it wasn’t more than 15 minutes.
Sherman met us at our hotel. He a wonderful gentleman who bought us lunch, and dinner today, and even showed us a few places around the city. He also had us over for dinner, and gave us orientation for what we will be doing this month!!
So here’s to this amazing month Father has for us!!
*Our Month Three is a closed country, which means that I cannot reference Father or why I am in the country. I have changed names and places I am using to protect those involved. Please use discretion when quoting me in writing or on any website. Ask me if you are not sure what to post.
