Full Throttle was in Ukraine for three and a half weeks, and we did a variety of ministries during that time. We had two major ministries, one of which had a lot of small projects, and a couple smaller ones.
The first of our main ministries was helping with the upkeep of a large garden which supplies food for Blessing Ministries. We cultivated almost half of the garden, planting about ten different types of vegetables as we went. We also helped maintain the smaller garden at Bethel House.
This brings me to our second ministry, Bethel House. This is actually the Blessings’ home that they have slowly built over the last 10 years or so. Every time they had enough money, they built another section of the house. The home now has room for 23 people to stay in 12 bedrooms, a large dining room with room for 36 people, a living room that can double as a conference space for groups to meet, and a kitchen large enough for two cooks and a couple helpers in need be. There is also a game room and two-car garage with full living space on the third floor in which the Blessing family lives.
The house is still not completely finished inside, and we got the chance to continue on the work of previous World Race teams, painting the halls of most of the guest part of the house, installing new flooring in the living room, and doing various small projects still not done. We found various spots where previous teams left their mark. Shout out to the Joyful Divas of U Squad! We painted your wall to match the hallway, and the den now has several couches, a coffee table, and several pictures up.
Some of the smaller things we did included speaking and leading worship for the young adults at Living Word church in Lviv, and hanging out with the awesome people there. We also got the chance to do street evangelism with them, and spend time with them outside of ministry just hearing their stories and seeing the city.
This last week we ran an English came at Bethel House, helping the village kids (31 of them!) learn more English and practice what they already knew. That was probably the most exhausting part of our time in Ukraine, but also some of the most fun moments!
Here’s to a great month, and now onward to debrief and our next month!!
