One of the hardest lessons I am learning, and will probably continue to work on for the rest of my life, is listening for God’s voice, the Holy Spirit’s promptings.
When I am in God’s presence (which should be always), I want to keep my eyes open and my mouth shut. I want to be listening so closely to the Spirit that I learn the pattern of God’s voice and begin to tune in to that voice more and more as I practice listening to him. I’m learning that all of my little choices are helping me in that process. I am working to train my mind to pray for more and more of the Spirit’s leading each day and to follow that leading as I seek to be the Lord’s disciple.

Here are the words God has given me, putting a fire in my heart:
“IF YOU ARE QUIET AND LISTEN, MY WORDS WILL BE THE ONES YOU SPEAK. LISTEN AND OBEY. DON’T JUST SIT. DO. OBEY THE COMMANDS I GIVE YOU.”
