Let's do some math…
2 hour bus ride to Port-au-Prince airport
+ 5 hour plane ride to New York
+ 9 hour plane ride to Istanbul, Turkey
+ 2 hour plane ride to Bucharest, Romania
+ 14 hour train ride

Finally arriving to Oradea, Romania
We officially traveled for 3 days, through 3 different time zones. (I honestly can't even tell you what day it is right now.)
In spite of my confusion, I HAVE ARRIVED!
Literally and figuratively!
I have arrived to a climate that is much like that of Michigan. How I have missed the cold…seriously! (The southerners in my group say they are going to freeze to death this month, but I'm feeling right at home.)

Hannah and I all bundled up while touring Timisoura, Romania on a train layover
(My "scarf" was graciously donated by Turkish airlines and is in fact NOT A SCARF…it's one of the plane blankets. Isn't it cute and functional?)
I have arrived to a country that actually knows the value of a greasy hamburger and salty french fries. McDonald's was graciously welcomed into my mouth as my first meal in Romania. (For those who snarl their nose at such establishments, remember I have been eating rice and beans for the past month.)

I have arrived to an amazing living situation. (I feel like I say this each month, but God has seriously blessed us once again.) There are 12 of us living in a huge house with a kitchen, COMFTY beds, internet, and warm, running water. The house is about a 5 minute drive to the grocery store (which is like a Walmart) and a mall/movie theater. (I actually felt like I was in the States while shopping today…despite not being able to read any labels, of course.)
Needless to say, Romania and I are getting along just fine!
However, I suppose I'm not here to be eating McDonald's and taking trips to the mall.
Most importantly, I have ARRIVED to begin MINISTRY tomorrow morning! We will be working with an organization called Felix Family Villages. They build communities for orphans that include a house equipped with a SET OF PARENTS! This month we will help to build houses for the community in the mornings and spend times with the kids of the community in the afternoons.
Once again, another blessed month!
