“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners- of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 1:15-17

Most importantly…
The most important thing to know about me is that I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. The very fact that my Creator God made a way for me to have a relationship with Him through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross has made all the difference in my life. Ultimately, my life is now not my own and I strive to make this define everything I do. Although I fall short everyday, I serve a God that is patient and faithful. It is my prayer that others will experience the forgiveness and peace I have from my relationship with Christ. Come and listen, let me tell you what He has done for me…

Who Am I?
My name is Sarah and I was born and raised just south of Detroit in Taylor, Michigan. I am the daughter of Bill and Vickie, sister of Josh, sister-in-law of Heather and aunt of Carson. I love playing tennis, riding my bike, skiing, exploring big cities, traveling, learning about new cultures, art, music, long conversations over coffee and laughing until my stomach hurts! Fall is my favorite season – It’s all about football, bonfires, hoodies, apple orchards and the semi-cold weather. I love being super active, but then again there is nothing better than having a lazy night with good friends. I have been blessed immensely with an amazing group of friends and church family at Gilead Baptist Church of Taylor (www.gileadtaylor.com), where I have attended since 6th grade.

In 2009, I graduated from Spring Arbor University where I studied Communications. It was at SAU that I had my first cross-cultural experience to South Africa in January 2008. On this trip, God opened my heart to the love of other cultures and the responsibility of spreading His Kingdom abroad.

What God Has Done?

Growing up in a Christian home, I tended to take for granted the privilege of having the truth of the Gospel presented to me at a young age. It was not until later in high school and college that my faith truly became my own and I began to allow God to change who I was. I remember actually praying in early high school that God would not make me a missionary. I have personally seen how God changes His children, because now there is nothing more that I want to do with my life.

It was in South Africa that God really gave me the desire to see the world and share His love with people in other cultures. About a year later, I learned about The World Race and thought it would be an exciting experience for a soon-to-be college grad that was unsure of my next steps.

Once again, God had other plans for me. I spent the next two years living and working back at home. My attitude about being home was anything less than enthusiastic at first. However, as He always does, God used what I did not want for my benefit. The past two years have allowed me to grow in my relationship with Christ and build God-centered friendships. I am so thankful for what this time has meant in my life and how it shaped me for my future. In April 2011, the door was opened for me to participate in The World Race. The rest is history…

Where Will I Be Going?

Over the next 11 months, I will be traveling to 11 different countries with a group of about 50 young adults. We will be split into teams of 6 and sent to different parts of the same country. In the countries, we will be teaming up with missionaries and Christian organizations to help with whatever physical needs we can meet and most importantly sharing the Gospel of Jesus with those who may have never heard.
