Training camp was loads of fun. It was hard and challenging but so amazing and Spirit filled. God showed up for me big time in many different ways. He unraveled many spiritual gifts within myself and my team mates (1 Corinthians 12). I met the friends of a life time. One of the biggest things for me on this trip was that God made Himself so prevalent to me and made it known that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be. God has told me for a while now that in my future I will have my own traveling woman’s ministry. He woke me up with Mark chapter 4 one night a while back and had Ephesians 3:14-21 pop out at me at many many different times these past few months/year. The word “ROOTED” is what He told me over and over to be the name of my woman’s ministry. Well, the leaders did a listening prayer and wrote down words or phrases that God spoke over us to them.
Can you spot it? When my leader read it allowed to us, I froze… and had tears. I was amazed. THEN later that day, we had breakout sessions on different ministries that we will be working with in the country and one of them was Woman’s Ministry. I froze again, because I didn’t really think we would be working with woman specifically, it just didn’t dawn on me. So I went, and signed up to be a woman’s ministry coordinator (along with hundreds of other girls), which means you put together and organize the woman’s ministry in the countries I will go to. And guess what… They chose me! God chose me! I got the role for Woman’s Ministry coordinator.
I am just in awe of what He did in my life this past week and a half. He made me feel so special. He also gave me a lot of clear, vivid visions of me in other countries, which is something I’ve never experienced before. There was moments at the beginning of camp where I felt not needed or wanted and just overwhelmed with the amount of new people around me. He gave me a vision of me dancing around with my African babies and spoke so clearly to me that one of those kids in that circle is going to need me. As I was fighting the feeling of not being needed, He reminded me that I am going to be NEEDED in Africa. It was so comforting and reassuring and loving of Him. He also gave me a vision of me having my hands on this woman’s forehead performing some type of healing. She was sitting on a brick wall and had extremely long hair. There was other moments where God dug to the ROOT, the very core of things in my life that I thought I dealt with, i.e. forgiveness, letting go, soul ties, etc. I also had a vision of me and Jesus staring out at a mountain with river banks in front of it and instead of taking to beautiful way to the mountain, He took a hard left and starting walking me through the wilderness. He reminded me later on that night with Psalm 136:16 “Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness. His faithful love endures forever.” I believe He showed me these visions so that I could stand firm and remember the times He is going to use me when things get hard this next year in the wilderness. I know it’s going to be extremely challenging but there’s not a doubt in my mind that He loves me and is with me and has unimaginable plans for me and my team out in the world.
All of this to say, I couldn’t be here without all of your prayers and support. It’s mind blowing to me. The amount of support I receive on the daily is unreal. Only $1,500 and I’m fully funded. WHAT?! It’s absolutely crazy what He can do when He’s in control. I leave October first for additional training and head out October 5th. I have about a month left till it’s go time! Prayers, prayers, prayers!!! Also, if you want to write me letters for special occasions (birthday, christmas, other holidays, or spontaneous letters… you can! Here is a timeline of what happened at training camp:
Day 1: Wednesday morning, approximately 7:00 am, I boarded my first flight of many with a complete stranger (girl on my team that I had not met before). We all slowly started arriving at the airport, then took an hour and a half bus ride to camp. It took a while to get signed in and all set up. At a sandwich and chips for dinner and had a worship session and got all settled into bed for the night, aka sleeping bag and tent.
Day 2: Woke up at the crack of dawn and did a practice hike with my team. Each day we had a specific country of food to eat and the first day was Asia. Oh my, it was awful!!!! It set the tone of “how am I going to get through this camp!!!” We had a day full of sessions and getting to know each other. I slept in my tent the second night.
Day 3: We had our 3 mile hike with everything packed up and in your bag on your back. We had to finish under 50 minutes. It was challenging and at some points I had to run with all that weight on my back, but, I finished at about 46 minutes. It felt good to have accomplished that. We had Central American food and it set the standards higher for the rest of the week, thankfully! At night we had a scenario as if half of the team lost their back packs at the airport and had to share a tent with someone. Thankfully, I didn’t lose mine 🙂
Day 4: We had European food which was SUPER good! At night we had an airport scene as if we had a layover for a flight and had to sleep in an airport.
Day 5: We had a girls day! All of the guys left camp and had a guys hike in the mountains. The food of the day was “travel food”.
Day 6: The food continued with “travel food”. That night, we took a bus to a state park and camped out in the woods WITHOUT our tents! We had tarp we could put up or sleep in our hammocks. We also had to cook our own meal from scratch and start our own fire by hand. Thankfully, we had America’s top chef on my team and a certified camp fire starter
. We had an amazing night of worship around the campfire.
Day 7: It was Africa day for food, which was quite gross, we also had to eat with our hands… and it was not hand food. EEEEP. Also, they sit on the floor and eat. At night, we had prayer shifts and we prayed through the night for our team. Mine was at 1:30 am.
Day 8: India day, still had to eat with our hands. I was not a big fan of African or Indian food. We got our individual teams that we are going country to country with 6/45 people. My group is awesome!!!! We had a day off and was able to go have a team day in the city. We ate at Chili’s, went to star bucks, stocked up at the gas station on snacks, and later went to our coaches house for brownies. And then… ended up back in our tents. Lol
Day 9: We had adventure day for food. For breakfast, it was crickets… gross! Lunch was a bunch of different organs of animals and strange meats. At night, they set up a market… was so realistic and cool! We had to negotiate prices with the markets to get food, there was people pick pocketing, taxi’s driving through the crowd of people. We slept in a huge community tent with 8 people.
Day 10: We had coming home food! Yay! Was so delicious! We had a bunch of sessions and trainings for different ministries we will be doing in each country.
Day 11: Packed up our stuff and headed home!
