Sorry it has been such a long time, but we have not had internet access lately. I will try to summarize the past week or so. We have been staying the village of Comalteco, Mexico with Juan Carlos´ family. They have opened their home to us and given us every bed in the house, while they sleep in the church right next door. I have learned a lot about the Mexican culture and about their willingness to serve us and give us the best they have. Some of them have argued over who gets to have us in their homes for meals. Continue to pray for our stomachs as we are eating authentic Mexican food. We´ve had a couple down already, but I have been lucky to escape it. I think I might just turn into a corn tortilla by the time I leave.
The past few days we have been going to a neighboring village where Juan Carlos is planting a church. We have spent a couple days going door to door, sharing our testimonies, evangelizing, and encouraging. One of my favorite stops was in the home of Petra. She wanted us to come a pray for her mother, who is 100 years old! We found out that she had accepted Christ when she was 95 and is sad because she cannot go out and do things for the Lord. This was so motivating to me because God has blessed me with the ability to be able to go tell people about the Christ. We took a picture of her, and Juan Carlos told her now she would travel around the world with us. Praying with her was such a blessing!
At nights we get to go to church services under the trees, where the church will eventually be built. Seeing the faith of these people and hearing their powerful prayers is amazing. The singing is my favorite! I think I´ve picked up a few Mexican worship songs, but who knows…I could just be making up words that sound good. The greatest thing about the church is God has blessed us to already see the fruits of our work. The first night 2 of the ladies we ministered to were there and then last night a couple more. God has definitely been working in these pueblos!
Today we are in Poza Rica for a Quinceanera. Tomorrow we will stay in Comalteco for church where Juan Carlos´dad preaches. Then in the afternoon, we have a volleyball match set up. Juan Carlos got excited when he found out that I like to play. The next few days we will go back to the pueblos and go door to door again. If we are lucky we might even get to take part of a day to go see some ancient Mayan ruins. Keep praying God´s spirit moves!
