Yesterday we took on the challenge for hiking up the San Pedro volcano. We started bright and early at 6am because we heard it could be a rather long hike. It was a good thing we got a jump on that mountain because it took our team a rather long time. Halfway up, I was thinking about all the days I skipped spending time in the weight room or running or in front of the TV with Billy Blanks and thought…¨You know, that might have come in handy right about now.¨
While the climb was difficult the Lord gave us strength to persevere! The 4000 ft, straight up climb, for 5 hours ended up being worth it in the end when we set foot on the peak of the volcano and overlooked the beauty of the lake below and the other surrounding volcanos. As we sang ´Shout to the Lord´and ´How Great is Our God´at the top, the beauty and majesty of God´s creation overwhelmed me. What a mighty and powerful God we serve!
Let´s just say climbing down the mountain was quite a bit more enjoyable. God filled my heart with worship songs all the way down. I practically ran down in an hour and a half and was glad to see flat land at the bottom! I want to leave you with part of the psalm the Lord gave me at the top:
¨Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.¨ Psalm 29:1-2
