Daniel 2: 15-16 “ He declared to Arioch, the king’s captain, “Why is the decree of the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the matter known to Daniel. And Daniel went in and requested the king to appoint him a time, that he might show the interpretation to the king.”

Started reading Daniel this week and came across this situation. Nebuchadnezzar had a dream which not one of his wise men or magicians could interpret. Nebuchadnezzar also wanted them to tell him what he had dreamed in the first place. Talk about pressure. Not to mention the fact that if they were unable to do so, he would die. Turns out no one could do either of those things. These men who were the wisest in all of Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom couldn’t do their job.

Daniel finds out about this and goes in seeking an audience with the king so that he can interpret it for him. Daniel’s faith in God is so great that he does this even before he knows if God is going to reveal the dream to him. He knew what could have happened to him if he couldn’t tell Nebuchadnezzar the dream and its interpretation? But instead of worrying about that possibility, Daniel faithfully trusts that God will indeed reveal the dream to him. And He does! Ad God blesses Daniel abundantly through Nebuchadnezzar for his faith.
Now as I sit here reading that thousands of years after it happened, I find myself thinking, “Way to go, Daniel!” with the mindset that he did something extraordinary (don’t get me wrong, he did). But he also did the exact thing God has called us to do in every situation. He had faith that God would show up. I find that I myself have struggled with that mindset in my life. I place God’s power on a back burner or in a box and either shy away from situations where I need to put my faith in God or I simply try to do it all on my own. God is really working on me this year with this idea and I am seeing incredible things happen when I choose to have faith in what He can do.
