As I write this blog, I'm sitting on a roof top in Georgetown, Penang looking over the city. Red lanterns are hung over the streets. Fireworks are going off in all directions. People from all over the country and all over the world have come here to celebrate the Chinese New Year. As I gaze at the street below, I see such a great variety of people from different cultures and religious backgrounds. Muslims. Hindus. Buddhists. Atheists. Christians.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about truth. For just a second, let me get all "philosophical" on you. What is truth? Who knows the truth? Who is worshipping the true God? Is there even such a thing as the one true God?
As a Christian, I can confidently answer that question "YES!" In John 14:6, Jesus says "I am THE way, THE truth and THE life; no one comes to the Father EXCEPT through me." He does not say that he is "a" way or "a" truth or "a" life. But THE one and only. Our post-modern world is all about acceptance and relativity, but as Christians, should we conform to that mindset? Romans 12:2 says "do not be conformed to the patterns of the world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." We don't have to buy into the pop culture belief that all roads lead to heaven. If that was the case, there would be no need for missionaries, no need to share the love of Christ, the only true love, with the world.
The word of God is the only truth we can base our lives on. And if everything the bible says is true, why aren't we living differently? Why don't we live as though we believe that God loves us and delights in us? Why don't His truths and His commands move us to action? Why are we stuck in the American dream mindset? Why aren't we living like the church in the book of Acts who were giving things away, healing the sick, constantly in a state of worship and truly relying on God for everything?
Do you know that Americans, 6% of the worlds population, consume 50% of the worlds resources? RIDICULOUS. I'm tired of America claiming to be a Christian nation and I'm tired of people in America who think they are Christians not living it out. If we truly believe who we are as God's children, we would be living radically different.
Truth has been distorted in so many ways and Satan has surely gotten such a foothold in every area of life. Women in many Asian countries are oppressed and beaten by their husbands. People bow down to gold statues in the form of Buddha, elephant goddesses and other false gods. A false prophet in Taiwan has convinced the people that they must pray to him, believe in him and he will pray to Jesus. If you don't believe in him, you won't go to heaven. Mormons have distorted God's truth with their own false prophet and ritualistic beliefs of the temple.
I've spent the past few days/weeks angry about this distortion of truth. I've pondered over and over and over about how this can be so. I've asked God where He is in all of this. And most of all, I've prayed that God will break my heart for what breaks His. It is obvious to me that the distortion of His truth, His great love for us and the rejection of Christ crucified breaks His heart.
In Malaysia, it is illegal to evangelize to Muslims. ILLEGAL TO SHARE THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH THEM. Punishment ranging from life in prison to being stoned to death. So are we willing to stand by the truth we believe and put ourselves on the line so that others can know the truth?
In the words of Jesus,, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." – John 8:31-32
P.S. Even though I swore off internet for the month, I felt that it was important to post this to let you know how God has been rocking my world and contiuing to change my worldview.
I hope and pray that God's truth will also stir something in your heart and give you the same hunger for His Word that I have experienced recently.
