This past year, I have been working at Baylor Scott and White as an oncology nurse. I have had my share of challenges, but I have absolutely loved oncology. I had such a unique opportunity to care for people and have learned much about strength, faith, and endurance. However, as much as I have enjoyed this past year, I have felt the call to move on.

When my family and I lived in Africa, I saw the need for medical help in third world countries. At that time, I felt a call to become a nurse and use my skills on the mission field. I worked hard for four years to follow this dream, and now, after I have gained some experience in the profession, I am excited to be joining the World Race!

The World Race is a yearlong mission trip designed to spread the gospel through adventure, discipleship, and missions. Every few months, Adventures In Missions launches six groups of 75 young adults to travel to 11 different countries to partner with organizations in each country. From the website: “racers experience how others live as they are immersed into new cultures, forming lasting relationships with people who bring fresh perspective. Not to mention Racers get to see breathtaking natural and manmade wonders.”

I applied to the World Race because I was excited about what this opportunity could bring. Now, as I prepare to launch in January, I become even more excited each day! While on the race, my squad and I will be partnering with organizations in each country to spread the gospel through children’s ministry, evangelism, service projects, teaching, working with sex trafficking victims, and many more. While I may not be participating in medical ministry, I am excited to see the Lord work in many ways, and see what opportunities He brings. My desire for this trip is to learn more about Him while being pushed out of my comfort zone.

As I launch in January, I will be posting blog updates and pictures here. Please keep me in your prayers and I would love for you to follow along on this adventure!
