While in Thailand, visit an Elephant sanctuary! At least, that’s what a lot of people kept telling me. One of the girls on my team especially loves elephants, so at the end of the month we traveled to Chang Mai and visited an elephant sanctuary.

We fed the elephants bananas and sugar cane, and occasionally got slapped by their ears.

Although I was slightly terrified of being stepped on, it was super fun to play with these giant creatures. One of them even gave me some slobbery kisses!

We were able to stay overnight in a bamboo hut on the river, and woke up the next morning to elephants walking past our front door. It was incredible!

We had to hurry and take this picture before the baby elephant came over and wanted to play again (he had been “playing” by knocking over people and trying to sit on them).

This was such a fun experience, and I totally recommend this to anyone wanting to see elephants (but do your research first and make sure they are treated well).

Added bonus – not even sure what was happening in the photo – all I remember was being sprayed with water while we were washing the elephants.
