Things are cheap here in the Philippines. Let me repeat myself, things are cheap in the Philippines. You can buy a blizzard from Dairy Queen for less than $1.50, you pay less than a dollar to use 2 forms of transportation to get you across town, you can buy a 2 liter of Coke Zero for 44.50 pesos (that’s basically a dollar). I kid you not, you can get nearly anything you want to eat here for a fraction of the cost you would pay at home. That makes it easy to toss away your money on meaningless things, things that have a price but really have so little value. Funny that we view people that way too. We view ourselves that way. I view myself that way. Often we see ourselves and other people as worth something but not exceptionally valuable. Here’s the problem with that way of thinking: we are beyond value, we are priceless.
James 1:18 says, “He chose to give birth to us by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possessions.
Here is the paradox: I have been bought at a price. You have been bought at a price.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “You do not belong to yourself, for God boght you with a high price.”
What kind of price that was paid on earth could be eternally priceless?
If you’re still struggling with the answer to this question, you should check out John 3:16.
If you don’t have a Bible handy, here’s the price that was paid that makes you priceless:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world so much that He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
This means more than Heaven waits for you. This means you are a child of the God who holds the universe in His hands, you are a Prince of the King who defeated death, you are a Princess of the King who gives you authority to speak life. You have value beyond measure. You have worth this world cannot fully comprehend on its own. It means that you have joy, unfailing love, gifts and endowments that stretch beyond the breadth of what we know to be humanly possible.
I have been bought at a price. You have been bought at a price.
And in God’s good and perfect love, you have been made priceless.
You, yes you, sitting here reading this. You who do not know God, you who do not seek Him out, you who do not recognize His hand of grace and love in your life – YOU were bought at the same price I was, you were the reason God paid the highest price he could, the price of life. Whether you allow yourself to believe it or not, you, out of all creation, are His prized possession. So stop living a life where you allow yourself to be less than you are, and start claiming your true value.
Put on that crown of salvation my fellow Princesses, hold your head high Princes of the Almighty. Realize that your true worth can not be found in the things that we can purchase or hold, because your true worth is immeasurable by the world’s standards.
This truth is buried in you.
Start digging.
