I haven’t written in much too long and I don’t know where to start!

Training Camp:

What all can I say about TC?  It was the most amazing experience of my life!  I learned so much, grew so much, experienced SO MUCH.  I’m best at expressing myself “list style,” so that is what I will do.
However, I’ll start with a look at a typical day at TC!
Let’s see if I can remember it right.

6:30am — Wake up! ^^This wasn’t our first location but our second.

7:00am — Workout.  This was different everyday.  The first day was hiking with our packs for 30 minutes.  Not long into it I learned that if you trip with your pack on there is NO WAY to catch your balance and you WILL go down, haha!  Lucky I had some great leaders help me back up and I kept trekking.  I didn’t even realize until later that day what a banged up knee I had! Live and learn!

8:00am — Breakfast!  Each day we had a different theme of country/region we or one of the other squads would be going to.  I can honestly say I tried almost every single thing I was presented with, haha!  I didn’t try the eggs because as it turned out they were a little raw.  The below picture is where we ate, outdoors, everyday.

9:00am – noon — The first few days this time consisted of lecture/sermon type learning, which I will indulge on in another blog later.  The next few days it was more of what you’d expect to hear….about logistics and expected learning about the World Race.  I’ll put that in the same blog as the other learning!

Noon — Lunch!

1:00pm or 1:30 – 6:00pm-ish — Wisdom Talks about “to knows” for the World Race, lecture teachings, informational meetings, or team building exercises!  In team building exercises the leaders put us in groups with other people, mostly different people every time.  We would play games, act out scenarios, etc.  My favorite was when we were given “words of building” (I guess is how to describe it) and instead of physically building something my team decided to write letters to one another in the encouragement of building one another up!  It was something sustainable and something that I will hold in my heart and keep with me physically always.  Picture below.

6:30pm-ish — Dinner time!

7:30pm-ish — Worship time, which was a lot like church….x10!  We were typically done around 10:00pm I believe, but it always depended on how the Spirit was leading us.  We weren’t necessarily told when to go to sleep but we’re all adults and know how hard it is to get up in the morning if you don’t get enough sleep, haha.

Before going to sleep though, we’d usually gather around a fire pit somewhere and decompress, love on each other, get to know one another more, and talk about the day.  That’ll be how our nights are on the Race, or so I’m told, and we call it “debrief.”

I can’t wait to experience next year with these people who, in no time flat, truly became my family.  They’ve already begun to love me for all that I am and have begun to fill be with love, confidence, hope, joy, and just begun to build me up, showing me examples of God’s love and grace.  Two months from today we will begin our journey to South Africa together and I can’t WAIT to see what God has for us!!
