The second thing I am going to post in my fundraising letter, so here it is! (I promise I'll get more creative down the line
). Also, I must thank Rebecca Spires and Kate Friar for some inspiration on how to word things the best possible way!
My Dearest Family and Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well! I am so excited to share with you what God has been doing in my life recently. I am now a second year senior at Anderson University and will be graduating in December with a Christian Ministry degree. Over these past four years I have given my life up to God to do as He will, and He has given me a heart for His people. From my very first mission work in Vermont to my first international mission work in Barbados, God has continually grown my heart’s desire to go to the nations, to see the world through the eyes of Christ and to share is love with others. As graduation approaches I have been prayerfully considering what God would have for me next, what doors He would open, and I have felt Him lead me to The World Race.
Through an organization called Adventures in Mission, The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. My team and I will be traveling to South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Ireland, Ukraine, and Romania. On the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, teach English in schools, spend time with the local widows, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring restoration and hope of God’s love to many tribes and nations.
I am so grateful to have this opportunity that God has given me because I have a desire to serve vocationally, but I am unsure where and in what form of ministry God would use my gifts to further His kingdom. This will be a great opportunity to serve in all sorts of capacities, to learn from missionaries who have been in the field, and to see how God is working around the world in and through different people in different cultures. I know that it will be challenging, but my heart leaps for joy at the adventure ahead of me!
One of God’s many names is Jehovah-Jireh, the LORD will provide, and through faith and trust I know He will. Ultimately my prayer is that He will do that through you. I am asking first and foremost that you would join with me as a prayer partner; specifically for the opportunity to share and help others grow in the love of Christ, for guidance in preparations and provisions for the trip, and for an open heart to how the Lord will teach and use me. Secondly, to be able to serve on the World Race I must raise $15,500, which covers all of my expenses on the field. This financial support can be given as a one-time gift or as monthly donation, wherein you choose the amount and beginning and end date. If 52 people pledge $50 a month for 6 months, I would have 100 percent of the funds necessary for my trip! A former World Racer broke down a rough estimate of the expenses of the trip, and I feel that they are important to share with you:
– Your $3.00 donation will pay for my transportation (from my housing to my ministry site for one day) $21 for one week and $93 for one month
-Your $3.75 donation will pay for my meals for one day. $26.25 for one week and $116.25 for one month
-Your $5.25 donation will pay for my lodging for one day. $36.75 for one week and $162.75 for one month
-Your $460 donation will pay for all of my personal expenses for one month. This includes all of other important stuff like translators, ministry supplies, and toilet paper.
I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA, 30353-4470, and include my name (Sarah Motes) on the memo line. This response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: http://sarahmotes.theworldrace.org/ . Just click the “Support Me” link in the left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.
I am so excited to see how God will move in my life and in the lives of others in the coming year. I would love to tell you more about this amazing opportunity in person, so please ask me about it! I hope not only to be a blessing to those I serve, but also to you. I would be honored to go as your representative to bring Jesus Christ to the nations around the world. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. May God bless you as your prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.
Many Blessings,
Sarah Motes
