Training Camp that is! I am so excited to get this show on the road. It’s been crazy (and still is!) splitting my focus between the World Race and school. I can’t believe this is Hump Week!! Dedicated so in honor of their only being 8 weeks of classes left.
Oh my gracious I just realized that I graduate on a Friday the 13th! Creepy. But anyways, yep, as of Friday, December 13th I will be a college graduate!
Training Camp begins next Saturday, October 12th-19th. Here is all the information I know about Training Camp:
–It’s where I will meet everyone in my squad face-to-face for the first time!! aside from Shelby that is; already met her
–The other 3 squads will be there as well in their respective colors (ours is orange), and we will continue squad wars by competing against them in various ways. This is really about building relationships.
–There will be dance-offs
–There will be worship time
–I will be participating in team building exercises. I think that we will be doing different things to see how different people work together to help fit who would make a good team together.
–Thursday I will find out who all my team is made up of.
–I be sleeping in my tent alone one night, in a tent with another person another night, and another night I will be sleeping with my entire squad of 60+ people and their packs. This is to give us a taste of different sleeping situations we will be in next year.
^example of what we’ll look like camping out together
–Like that of next year, I will be eating all kinds of different foods from different countries. And believe it or not dear family of mine reading this, I swear I will be trying at least one bite of everything. Either that or starve, right? 😉 **side-thought: I need to be sure I journal everything I try, and even take pictures so that they’ll believe me, haha
–We’ll be doing exercising of some sort everyday.
–I don’t doubt we’ll be using the squatty potties at some point, at the very least porta-potties. One of my lady squadmates vowed to teach us other ladies how to use a squatty, haha. That’ll be interesting.
There are so many other things that we will be doing and experiencing and I can’t to let ya’ll know about it!
On our group World Race blog, where those in charge post stuff to us quite like I’m doing for you now, we were given a WR Training Camp packing list of stuff we should bring. I haven’t packed yet since it’s still a while out and I have lots of school work to do before then, but here are some pictures of what I will most likely be packing –>
^ They are small but you can blow them up.
Here’s a list of a lot of the things I will be taking:
–Clothes….mostly for outdoor activities, workout clothing, one nice outfit for a final night out together, my fleece jacket, my rain jacket, flip flops, my Chacos, and sneakers.
–Gear….my pack and its rain cover, tent with its footprint and rainfly, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, nalgene bottle, mug, silverware utensil, plate and bowl, towel, personal hygiene items and toiletries, small first aid kit of bug spray, band-aids, baby wipes, sunscreen, medicines, etc.
–Electronics….my headlamp, my laptop or my iPad, my iPhone, earphones, maybe a splitter, my watch, flash drive,
–Everything else….bible, journal, pens, pencil, highlighter, spending money, eye mask and earplugs, deck of cards, bandana, etc.
I can’t wait to tell ya’ll all about it! It’s thanks to a lot of you that I have my gear and am far as I am financially! I am so grateful, and still have such a long way to go. I am very close to $6,000, but I have to have $7,500 before I can even leave on the World Race! Every dollar helps so I really hope that you will help me. I need to raise $16, 285. If you would like to help me please click the link to the left that says “Support Me.” You can give once or even multiple times, big amounts or small amounts, any amounts I am forever grateful for!
Forever His Above,
Sarah
