Well, almost… My support letter is on its way out the door bright and early tomorrow morning!
Here it is:
Hello friends and family!
I hope this letter finds you well. As many of you know, I have been working in college admissions for the past two and a half years and it has been a great opportunity to travel, meet people, and grow as a professional. While I do enjoy working with students and helping them plan their collegiate future, I have been feeling a calling pulling me in a different direction. For the past two years, I have been feeling the pull toward service or volunteer work of some sort and over the past year, the path for me has become clear. I have a huge heart for helping people, travel, culture, working with children, and music. I have prayed a lot about how I can combine all of these loves to serve a greater good and the answer is definitely mission work! God is definitely calling me to share His love with world and I am really excited to follow this calling. He has big plans for me and I am ready to listen and serve.
I have been accepted to an 11-month mission trip called The World Race through an organization called Adventures in Missions, and I will be leaving in September of 2013 to be a missionary. The trip will visit 11 different countries around the world during the 11 months and our ministry will be a little bit of everything. My team and I will be sharing God’s love and word through orphan care, community building, hospital ministry, teaching English, youth ministry, leading worship, and many other opportunities by partnering with current missionaries and organizations in the countries that we will be visiting. We will be exposed to many harsh realities of the world as well, such as human trafficking, extreme poverty, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic and will have to rely on and grow in faith to share God’s love and hope with those that need it most.
I am excited and humbled by this opportunity to serve around the world and I am confident that God will provide for me to make this trip a reality. I am writing to ask that you partner with me in this ministry. First, I ask for your prayers for my team and I as we prepare for and set out on this adventure. Second, I would be thankful for any financial help you would be willing to provide. I must raise $15,500 to go on the World Race, which covers all expenses while in the field. Financial support can be given as a one-time gift or a monthly donation- with a start and end date. I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, inviting you to share in this ministry. The response card will provide AIM with the information necessary to send you a receipt for your donation. If you would prefer to make your donation online, you may do so by visiting my blog site at: sarahmccomb.theworldrace.org (right here! :D). Just click the “Support Me” link in the upper left side of the page and complete your donation as instructed.
I am so excited for this amazing opportunity and next chapter in my life. I pray that I can be a blessing in the lives of those in need and in your life as well, as I serve in Jesus’s name around the world. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers and financial support. Please feel free to contact with me with any questions or to talk in more depth about my coming journey. May God be with you as you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this ministry.
Blessings,
Sarah
