The people here are so amazing and so funny. Here are a few funny things that have happened so far:

As soon as people on the streets realize you speak English, they want to tell you every word that they know in English… One day we were walking and a guy yelled, "I LIKE ORANGES!"

When we were singing for schools with the Love Ethiopia Festival, the kids always told me that I should try rapping next time.  One group of kids told me about how their friend got in trouble for rapping the Ethiopian National Anthem though… So I probably shouldn't do that…

Kids will try to feed you anything that they have in their hands- even rocks.

Everyone that has a relative in the states wants to know if you know them.

When they find out my name is Sarah, they ask if I am married to Abraham and if their name is Abraham, they say, "oh! You are my wife!"

One day a guy tried to sell me fake Ray-Bans on the street and I said, "No… Those wouldn't look good on me." And he looked really hard at my face and replied, "yeah, you're right," and moved on to the next person.

Kids will try to get you to give them anything that you have. "Banana give me?"

People love to put you in really uncomfortable situations on purpose and then say, "it is our culture," with a huge smile. They think it is so funny and it is.

We danced in an Ethiopian wedding.

We were waiting for a friend one day and this guy tried to sell me a book on spirituality. He told me that he read it and after asking him a bunch of questions about it, he said, "I will sell it to you for only 100 birr." I said, "100 birr?? It says 60 on the back!" He started laughing, "Ahhhhhh!!!" And ran to his friend to tell him.

People that are begging on the streets are not usually excited if you try to give them avocados…

There is a little girl that always asks for money on the street usually in extreme amounts. One day she said, "10,000 birr!" And we said, "only 10,000?" And she nodded with a huge smile, "40,000 birr." Ha! That's more like it.

There are so many more, but that's all I can remember for right now.  I hope these people make you smile as much as they make me smile.  Thank you, God, for bringing us here!
