I am officially going on The World Race in August 2016! I will be spending 11 months away from my family and friends, living out of a backpack, in 11 foreign countries. I can honestly say I am beyond excited! I know it will be a challenge, I will be missing birthdays, and Christmas with my family. But despite not the difficulties of not being home for almost a year, I know this is right.

My decision to go on this trip was a long time coming. God has been calling me to the mission field since I was 7 years old. I was dedicated at our church in 1995, while our pastor was praying over me he felt like God was giving him a word for me, Missionary. God blessed me with a compassionate heart, a need to serve others & tell them about Gods love, and a desire to travel and see the amazing world He created. I went on a few mission trips in high school, and fell in love with the work God was doing. However, trying to figure out what to do with my life after high school was a challenge for me. I wanted to do something important, but something practical-safe. I pushed against my hearts calling to mission work. Went to college and graduated. After graduating, I felt lost, stagnate in life. It seemed like everything was passing me by, and I was searching for purpose again. Then my friends younger sister went on a Gap Year trip with The World Race. Reading her blog, hearing the stories of what God was doing in the world reignited my heart. I had to do this.

Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said “Here am I. Send Me!”

God is already pulling me out of my comfort zone. I can’t do this alone. I have to do something I don’t like doing… ask for help. I need to ask you for your help.

I need to raise a lot of money to go on this journey serving the least of these and sharing Gods love. This trip will cost almost $17,000. But this money will cover all my travel expenses, food, and housing. I will be using as much of my own money to reach this goal as I can, but I can’t reach this amount on my own by September of next year. Financial help is of course the most obvious way to give, but it is not the most important.

Most of all I will need prayer. If you are willing to help me in this way, I can’t express how grateful I will be! I will need prayer as God pulls me out of my comfort zone. Prayer for not just my health and safety, but for that of my team as well. Pray that we will become fully dependent on God, and we are able to glorify his name. Please also pray that the communities we will be serving will soften their hearts to us and God.

If you are in a position where you can donate, you can simply click on the “Support Me” link above this post. Donations are tax-deductible and every penny given will go to supporting my race. You can make a one time donation or even a monthly donation. I understand that not everyone will be able to give financially. If you are able to give, and you choose to I will be genuinely grateful.

I will be doing some fundraisers as well, keep your eyes open for those!

Thank you for clicking on this blog. Thank you for your prayers and support! I will continue to post throughout this journey. God Bless!
