So we have been in the middle of no where Thailand, but all in all, it’s been awesome. We stayed with this older couple who we called Ma and Pa and had two translators who graciously took off a week of school to help us out. This past week we’ve been working teaching English and playing with kids after school. It was amazing the respect the kids gave us in the classroom and the teachers were very kind to us. One thing that kinda shocked me was the fact that kids can walk in and out of the classroom as they wish and that teachers get a 15 minute break every hour. Not only that, but it is typical for teachers to just leave the class for an hour or so.

In the afternoons all the kids would come to the place we were staying and we would play Skip-Bo or volleyball or any game. They were always willing to learn and sing, and they taught us some really cute songs. My favorite is by far the Ginka song. Then after the kids went home Ma or one of our translators would cook us food and normally it was really good. The frog soup and the fish and ants breakfast weren’t among my favorites though. The frog didn’t taste that bad, but the fact that all the bones were mixed in definitely made it an experience I’ll never forget.

On Sunday we went to a local church and by local I mean just an hour ride away. Christian churches are few and far between here, but the people have so much faith and passion! When we got to the church the pastor gave over the service to us, saying that when we arrived she realized it was angels coming to visit and she asked that we do the message and give testimonies. All I could think was there is no way some missionary would walk into our churches back home and receive this kind of reception.

As for living conditions, we had cold bucket showers, we slept on the floor, and I tried to convince myself that it was raining most nights, but in reality there were rats in the ceiling. Why this may sound like sub par living conditions, it was so easy to get used to. I absolutely loved living with Ma and Pa, and was quite sad to leave this morning.

As you go to bed tonight, just pray for Ma and Pa that their ministry prosper and that all the kids they work with will come to know the Lord, and also that those who do believe will be strengthened in their faith.

This is me with all my translating papers. And I realize the video didn’t work but it is posted to facebook!!
