We have been in beautiful Malaysia for 3 weeks now. When we first arrived from Nepal we spent a night in KL before heading to Pangkor Island for a much needed debrief. It was awesome to have a few days off to rest, recharge, and of course process lol. For those of you who are not familiar with the World Race or the Race life style… Processing is a big part of life.
During our debrief I had time off, most of which was spent on the beach, no surprise there. Needless to say I was in heaven while at the beach. I would just go sit on the sand or chill in the ocean and pray. I prayed for our squad, my team and teammates, my friends and family, I prayed for Nepal and I prayed for Malaysia. I asked the Lord to really open my eyes and my heart to what he wanted me to grow and change in.
We are now in Gua Musang, a small town. We can walk everywhere and it’s the kind of place where people know your name after a few days. We have met some locals and started to make friends. One of our daily trips is to 7 eleven for cold drinks, where we met a lovely young Malaysian girl who works there. The store next door is run by another local family and then there is Mamuk family restaurant where we go get delicious iced lemon and milk tea. The people at Mamuk family restaurant are my favorite… but shhhh don’t tell anyone.
Ministry this month has been slower than others. We are teaching English and doing odd jobs here and there like organizing, painting and whatever is asked of us. Other months our ministry is usually busy and we work all day, so to have a chill month has been a change. At first I thought I would go crazy, especially since we just had a debrief. Then I realized, we have so much we can be doing. This month has allowed our new team to really pour into each other and the community, it has allowed us to get to know each other and spend a lot of time in prayer. We start out each morning with team prayer and end each night with team prayer. I love that we do this and I think that is one of the reasons our team has become so close so quickly. Prayer is super powerful and makes a huge difference.
A perfect example of powerful prayer… The other day we were doing devotional and I thought it would be fun to do a little game. You grab your Bible, close your eyes, ask the Lord to show you what he wants you to learn and then start flipping. Wherever your finger lands is where you read from. Our whole team did this and the weird thing is, 3 out of 8 of us got the same exact chapter and verse. John 17:20-26 (Jesus prays for all believes). How crazy cool is that!! I love those verses. As many of you know our squad has had a rough go lately, it is comforting to know and think about how Jesus prays for us. I still can’t get over that out of the whole Bible, 3 of us got the same passage. Okay, okay, God we hear you!!
When I was sitting on that beach and asking the Lord to show me what he wanted, I wasn’t expecting for it to be so clear. I have already learned so much this month and it’s just 21 days in. I have learned about what it really means to love someone, and to try and love as Christ did. Accepting people for who they are faults and all, calling people higher and being called higher, and team work. I can’t wait to see all the things God will show me by the end of the month.
Thanks for reading my blogs. It means so much to me! I wanted to let y’all know once again I have a deadline fast approaching. This is my final deadline… Wooooo thank the Lord!!! I am currently about $3,000 short. I have come so far and I know the Lord will provide! Please prayerfully consider supporting me.
