On a beautiful sunny Saturday in Quito Ecuador, I went with a few of my teammates to a coffee shop . It was the first time some of us had internet since arriving. I was taken aback at how emotional it made me just seeing my friends and family’s messages pop up, it was a whirlwind of emotion. It was great to hear from them and read their loving and encouraging messages, but it also made me realize how much I missed them. I looked up through my tears to see my other teammates crying, too. I figured we were all feeling the same way. I soon came to find out that one of my teammates’ uncles had passed away. The already emotional day quickly became more emotional. All our hearts broke for her. All we could do was show her love and give lots of hugs. We were wrapped up in our emails, Facebooks and iMessages for nearly two hours. It was approaching 6 pm, so we packed up and headed out to find a cab. Normally, it is pretty easy to find a taxi or bus, but on Saturday it was way more challenging. Thankfully, we eventually found a cab. As the four of us piled into the cab (cars here are smaller), I noticed a Jesus fish emblem on the cars dash. We started down the road and I saw the cab driver, a cute little Columbian man, was rummaging around for something. He then pulled out a flash drive and started playing English Christian music. As we were all singing along, I glanced up to see him in the rear view smiling at us. In our broken Spanish, well my teammate’s broken Spanish, she asked him if he was a Christian. He proudly said “yes”. They continued to talk for a bit till we got home. We were thinking, “what can we do for him since he has blessed us so much?” We were in the back of the cab and decided, as teammates, to leave a big tip for him. His face was so priceless and he was super appreciative; it was worth every penny.

I don’t know if that man will ever know how much he blessed us that day. It’s funny to think, out of all the busses and all the cabs in Quito, we ended up in his. God knows what he is doing and he was definitely looking out for us that day. He always shows up when you need him the most.

Thanks God!! 🙂
