So the somewhat humorous blog title seen here is the result
of a somewhat futile attempt on my part to teach the local kids English (humor
also happened to be one of our words, which we weren’t actually able to use in
a sentence at the moment- seems easy now…). I’m almost positive that teaching
English is NOT what I’m called to- but, when in Rome…
On a related note (ok it’s only related because it’s a part
of my somewhat strange somewhat boring daily life)- I bought a snack just now
for less than 25cents- without knowing what a single thing I was buying
actually was. First I bought one package that just said “milk” and “+vitamin A”,
and has a picture of a cow, lettuce, carrots and tomatoes on it. It also had a picture
of what appeared to be Twinkies on it. It could’ve been ANYTHING! Was it beef?
Was it milk? Was it vitamin infused Twinkie?! My anticipation was great. It
turned out to be what resembled cheesy poofs, that tasted like frosted flakes.
Not bad.
The second thing I bought was a package that simply said “cake”
with a picture of a kitten in an astronaut suit on a surfboard, and a picture
of what appeared to be a sesame straw with cheese erupting from the end, with
peanuts on the side. Was it really cake?! Did it taste anything like the
macaroni and cheese that I so dearly miss? Sadly no, to both the first and
second hope. It did in fact taste like a rice cake with freeze dried peanut
butter dust inside.
Lastly- my juice in a bag. Oh yes, FYI they sell juice in
sacks here. Insert straw and you have yourself a refreshing beverage. All that is
said was “Source of Energy” which you have to admit sounds exciting. What was
even more exciting was the picture of the 2 elephants facing off (probably
about to do battle. Why? Because they have so much energy), and the above a
picture of a starburst coming out of a mountain. What confused me what the
coloring on the top of the package that appears to be milk dripping down… It
tastes like Red Bull. And let me tell you, I was not at all disappointed. In
about an hour im going to have the energy of an elephant.
And this amazing treat only cost me $0.20!!! What a tasty
deal. I love Cambodia
My apologies if my blog title was a bit misleading, and this
blog was not at all about puppies. Such is life. I do, however love puppies.
