Ministry Buffet… mmm… sounds delicious right? Well it is. And exciting
So our amazing contacts, Peter and Carol, have this amazing idea. The want us to be able to experience God in all sorts of ministries- so we’re trying them all! Its pretty sweet really. We get to see what God is doing all over this amazing city, and im so happy to be involved!
We are living over Peter and Carol’s restaurant called The Canteen. Every morning we wake up to all sorts of wonderful and sometimes awful smells (there is some sort of dried fish store next door). We’ve been serving every now and then in the restaurant- i was the cashier the other day. Its pretty neat bc we live right across from Central Market in the middle of Malaysia’s capital city- so tons of stuff is going on all the time.
Speaking of stuff going on it’s Chinese New Year- and we live right by China Town!!! Its cool they have lights up all over the place, there are fireworks going off at random intervals, and i saw a guy in a dragon suit the other day!
So the first few days i was here we took a train out to a place called “slim river.” We went to 6 different villages in the jungle and put on a Christian program. We did songs and games with the kids, testimonies, shared from the Bible- i personally chose to hold as many babies as i could get my hands on. I also held a monkey, but it tried to bite me so i gave it back. the babies were pretty harmless so i stuck with them. It was really cool how open the people were with us. They seemed pretty eager to have us and hear about God. the kids were especially enthusiastic, but im not sure if it was us or the candy we were offering… hopefully us.
We’ve also been doing some other top secret tourist stuff, im not allowed to mention due to certain local laws… but ill update you on that around… Feb 19th.
We went yesterday to do what they call a “street feeding.” An un-pc name for feeding the homeless. It was a pretty sweet set up though. They had a volunteer doctor that saw patients for free- and gave them meds, an assembly line where we served them the food, preaching, music, a man who spoke gibberish that i couldnt understand- tons of fun! Well the gibberish guy decided he loved me and i had to tell him goodbye, but other than that it was perfect!
Tomorrow we are going to teach English! Not my favorite, but im willing to participate! i just wanna hang out with the kids and love on them, hopefully there will be time to do both.
Anywho i just thought you guys might want to know what im doing over here. so there it is. im eating at the buffet.
