So I just thought it might be good to let you know that im
in El Salvador now! We’re staying with the Santos family in the most amazing
house. We have palm trees in the yard and our own pool! The neighborhood has a
pool as well that you can swim laps in. The Santos have 4 kids that are super
sweet, and a dog named “a taco.” We’re really blessed.
As far as ministry goes- its been pretty scattered. We’re
working with a mega church here in Santa Ana- Amigos de Israel (friends of Israel)-
they have their own tv and radio station- and all the churches underneath
them. We’ve been giving our testimonies
in the church services, doing a homeless ministry called “Pan y Chocolate”,
speaking/doing dramas at the church’s school, going into the communities to
preach, and working with a group of kids called Genesis.
Last night we went to a local jail. It was…. Interesting.
There were 4 cells, all packed with people. There were no benches, beds, or
anything in the cells, just people completely covering the floors. We brought
them soup- apparently the jail doesn’t provide anything for them- not clothes
not food- just locks them up. There wasn’t even a light in 3 or 4 of the cells.
And the other cell only had a light because there was over 40 men inside and im
sure they wanted them visible. I mostly handed out soup- for one Im not that
great at Spanish, and 2 I didn’t really know what to say. I wasn’t about to
assume that because they were in jail they didn’t know God, so I didn’t think
it was good to preach about hell-fire. I was also a bit curious as to what they
did to get into there predicament, but I suppressed my curiosity and resorted
to making small talk and answering questions. It was… ya interesting.
We’ve been getting some sweet time at the beach on our off
days. I went surfing on Friday, it was crazy the waves were too big!
So ya im in El Salvador for a few more days, then headed to
our final country next week!
