The Black Sea in your backyard is just one of the many surprises we as world racers have had this year. It is always entertaining to pull up to your new home and have no idea what to expect. We never know what to expect our home to look like nor do we know what to expect of our month.

As we pulled into our new home for the month of September in the Ukraine, we found ourselves with our mouths wide open…

We arrived at a retreat center where ministers and pastors come to find rest. When we pulled up we saw a nice retreat center with a beautiful church next to it and behind it all, sky and water meet. I heard Jessi, my squad mate, say that she had been praying the whole trip that we would be living in a castle next to the water.  God truly does answer even the smallest of prayers!

Well we are definitely next to the water, it is in our backyard. Our view is…celestial. Celestial seems an appropriate word to use to describe God’s amazing creation.

We are living at the retreat center and helping in any way we can. We have been working in the kitchen, with gardening, cleaning, painting, stacking wood, and we started English classes last night. We are participating on Sundays at the church right next door by speaking and leading worship. We are learning a lot about culture. We have already made a home here and are having a lot of fun with the people here. This place definitely has a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants feel to it and is quaintly picturesque.

Please pray for us, we have a squad mate down with Malaria in the hospital (pray for him, his name is Trevor) and a few of us are not feeling the greatest. We have had quite a lot of trouble with sicknesses already in the last week. Please pray that we will recover fast so that we can continue to bless our ministry and our contact that we have had the opportunity to work alongside.

The Ukraine is beautiful and we are definitely living the life. Running water, hot water, washers, electricity, semi-normal foods again, semi-familiar culture, beautiful landscape, fun surrounding cities, next to the water…It is amazing.

We are doing well. Thank you all for your support and prayers.
