The majority of our ministry while in Uganda was spent speaking at schools. We spoke at 10 schools during the three weeks we spent in Kasaka ranging from elementary all the way through college aged. I very much enjoyed our time spent at these schools. When we first arrived, the kids would run out to greet us with hugs and smiles. They would then perform cute little dances for us as they sang “you are welcome, our dear visitors.” We began the program with introductions, songs, and dramas before one of us would step forward to speak. My favorite part of each day was at the end when we would pray over the school and the children. I couldn’t help but peek each time at the adorable African children who bowed their heads, folded their hands, and tightly closed their eyes. So precious.

One day in particular has remained on my heart. We were speaking to youth which in Africa is a range of ages from 17-25. Jessi talked that day and gave her testimony and we then felt led to have an alter call. Dozens of young adults came forward and made the decisions to either accept Jesus as their Savior or re-dedicate their lives to Him. It is incredible to watch God at work in people’s lives and experience His transforming power as people we have encountered all over the world come to a saving knowledge of who He is.

That same day, we remained at the school after speaking to watch as the students performed a variety of tribal dances and dramas. The skits were shocking as they performed morbid scenes involving premarital sex, an exchange of gifts for sex, extreme anger and violence, and a conclusion of murder by poison. These are real issues faced by the youth in Africa every single day. Their reality is heart wrenching and often results in AIDs and an early death. The youth are hungry though for a better lifestyle and are desperate for change. I pray revival upon Africa and a greater knowledge of who God is. May each life there be transformed as they begin to experience God on a deeper, more intimate level.
