You will hardly know who I am or what I mean,
But I shall be good health to you nevertheless,
And filtre and fiber your blood.
Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged,
Missing me one place search another,
I stop somewhere waiting for you.
This is part of a poem by Walt Whitman. Though I know he did not intend it, this has always sounded like something Jesus might tell us. Some may not understand the call to drop life where it is in order to live out of a backpack, embracing a lifestyle where comfort is not part of a daily routine. They may ask many questions and still never understand. The only thing I can say is, “I do it for this man, Jesus.” Jesus gave it all for me, why should I not spend my life attempting to give it all back? I was born with Adam’s blood and have inherited the blood of our King because of this man, Jesus!
It’s true that we could spend the rest of our lives, all day every single day, pursuing Christ and still not know entirely who He is. He is good to us anyway; He cleanses us and makes us worthy for God. Even though we may never fully know all that is Christ while in the world, we continue the daily pursuit and exploration for this man, Jesus. He waits for us and encourages us to find Him in all we do.
Everyone’s pursuit after this man Jesus is different, and it just so happens that my chase for Christ involves The World Race! My sanctification timeline doesn’t start here, and it won’t end when I come back from the Race either. God has brought me to this point for a reason, one I don’t fully understand yet and may never completely understand. I just know that my discipleship includes this mission trip. A great adventure God saw fit to send me on.
This is my blog where I’ll document, write, explain, raise funds (of course), post pictures, share troubles and praises, and present to you the small moment in this world’s timeline where I search further for this man, Jesus. Here we go!
