(random thoughts)

While partaking in our ‘Free face painting!’/ ‘Need Prayer?’  set up on the streets of Galway, a girl
approached me who looked to be about the my age. After requesting the same face
paint design that I had painted on my face, I asked her if there was anything I
could pray for her about. “Everything is going great right now, I don’t even
need prayer!” She replied. This kind of irritated me, until I realized that I
am the exact same way.

When it comes to God, everyone faces trials differently.
Some people grow livid with him, and wonder, “How could he put me through this?”
And then when things are going great, they suddenly have faith again. Others
use him as a crutch when they are weak, and then forget to thank him when
things are going great.

I’m the type of person that pays most attention to Christ
when things aren’t going my way, and that is my biggest struggle as a Christian.
Being able to thank him, and still dive into the word…. and walk in obedience
when things are going spectacular, just as much as I do when things are rocky.
How is it fair to talk to God only when things are bad? Or only when things are
great?

God speaks to us through parables. He speaks to us through
trials. He speaks to us through instincts. A lot of times we know what God
wants for us. It’s just a matter of giving up the selfish plans we have for
ourselves, and walking by faith instead of by personal desire. If it’s building
you up in Christ, you know it’s the right direction.

Statistically speaking, 88.4% of Ireland has a Catholic
faith. In the mid 1980’s, child sex abuse cases were brought to attention in
the church, causing many people to turn away from God, and religion all
together. I can’t even count how many people I have talked to on the streets
who want nothing to do with God. My prayer request from all supporters is that
Ireland may come at peace with this situation, and find that God himself has no
place in the horrible things that have happened here. My heart truly goes
out to this place. There is still work to be done.

Off to Romania today. Teams could switch, and we will find out exactly our next location. Any prayer would be appreciated 🙂
