This past week was difficult. I experienced many lasts for 11 months. Last warm showers, last time in a comfortable bed, last time living with air conditioning, last time eating Chick-fil-a, and the last time with so many of my usual comforts for 11 months. I’ve packed all of my belongings into a 65 liter pack and small backpack, which was no easy task for me. Even harder for me were the goodbyes (see you laters) that I had to make for 11 months to my friends and family. This past week I’ve realized even more how lucky I am to have these people in my life and how special they are to me.

My going away party.

My going away party with some of my best friends.

In January when I first applied for the world race, it felt like so far off, and today I can finally say that I’m leaving for Atlanta to begin launch, which is some more training before we leave. On Monday we fly off to Africa where I will begin my first placement in the Malealea Valley in Lesotho. I am nervous, but I’m mostly excited to see how this next year unfolds. I know these eleven months are going to push me to my limits and mold me more into the person I’m supposed to be, and I thank God every day for the opportunity to be His hands and feet. I also thank all of you. I wouldn’t be here, launching with my squad, if it wasn’t for your constant support through prayer, kind words, and financial contributions to make this happen. It’s finally happening, and I can’t wait to share this journey with all of you!

While I am gone, I will still be fundraising until I hit my amount to be fully funded ($16,961.) I’m currently $4,659 away from this goal (which completely blows my mind. God is so, so good.) If you feel led to support financially, please click the “support me” button at the top of the page! So thankful for y’all.
