The last 2 weeks of ministry have been spent at an elementary school about an hour away by bus. We have been doing physical labor around the school making it more visually appealing and helping fix some of the things that the Director needed. This week something special happened.
When we arrived at the elementary school it was recess time. So instead of jumping right into the physical labor aspect of our ministry, we played with the kids. I took out my camera to capture some of the kids and that’s when it happened.
This is Raul.
Raul is a 6 or 7 year old little boy who goes to the school and doesn’t interact much with the other kids. This week, he has been hanging around us as we have been working while he is out at recess. He hasn’t said much and has smiled even less..until yesterday.
I pulled out my camera and he smiled! I took his picture and those of a few others. Then he followed me around wanting to see how the camera worked. So I showed him. He took to it like a duck to water. His entire countenance changed with the camera in his hand. He was laughing, smiling, talking, and interacting with the other kids. He loved seeing the pictures he had taken appear on the screen. It was a beautiful sight to see.
So instead of taking up space to write about it, I will just show you some of his pictures.
Without further ado:
