Something that I keep reading about over and over again is about expectations. Everyone says, “Don’t come with expectations.” The problem I find is that even without thinking through it, expectations are formed. For this reason, I have tried my best to verbalize exactly what I expect from this trip just to get it out there in the open. Maybe with me listing them here I will be able to look back later and be completely blown away by what God did with my expectations. So here are my expectations for this journey…
I expect…
1. To be tired… but yet be filled with a strength only God can provide.
2. To eat and do things I could never dream of doing here…and love some of it and not like some as much.
3. To be taken completely out of my comfort zone and into God’s comfort zone.
4. To not understand the words that are being said around me…and yet have the Holy Spirit provide me with an understanding of the work He is doing.
5. To know and grow to love others as God knows and loves them.
6. To consider nothing too precious that I am not willing to give or share with others.
7. To be changed by God through the people I meet along the way
8. To be speechless with what God is doing around the world among His people.
9. To show the least of these God’s love.
10. To not know every detail of my day and the plan for what lies ahead…but know God has it all under control
11. To be flexible to where the Spirit takes us….it will be hard at times, but it will always be the best way.
This is what I expect from this journey.
But really we should expect these in our daily lives….shouldn’t we?
