Hey all!  Thank you so much for your uplifting words of encouragement.  I was feeling kind of down tonight and all of your comments were of great comfort to me.

I stole both these blogs from my teammate Esther to share what we are up to with you……

Whip out your maps & globes! You’ll want to look up where we’re heading. Here are a few more specifics on locations and (tentative) timetable for our upcoming ministries.

Our team chose the name
Concrete. Ok, here’s the silly story behind the name. We were in the airport. It was about 8-hours into our wait (See Ready, Set, … STOP!). I (Esther) was up at the ticket counter with a couple other leaders, trying to get the visas and luggage issues addressed. The rest of the June-squad was in the airport lobby, passing time. While eating Jelly Bellies, my teammates (Sarah and Lauren)  decided it would be fun to name them. For one tropical JB, Sarah announced the name “palm tree”… And Casey heard “concrete”… Yeah, it sounds nothing alike, and it probably sounds really silly on the other side of the computer screen. My only justification: We were tired.

As we were looking to choose a team name, some people jokingly suggested Concrete. Upon further reflection, concrete is made from a variety of materials. It’s mixed and roughed up. But the end produce is strong, resilient, serving its purpose.

Our team is like concrete—made of seven very different people with different backgrounds and giftings. We will have challenges, in ministry and in team dynamics. But in the end, the Lord will produce strong, resilient people, who He will use to serve His purpose of touching many people’s lives and bringing Him glory.
