Hi friends! We’re in LA. What a blessing it is to be in America! We are having the best time. In a surprise twist, just a few days before we left the Philippines we found out that our layover was not 24 hours in LA but 48 hours. WOOHOO! Friends of AIM, Bonnie and Ken Brown have welcomed us in to their lovely home and we are so thankful to them. They have also recruited their friends to drive us around and house us. Morgan and Chad from January 07 WR also have taken us under their wing. It’s been awesome! Morgan surprised us all with gifts from bath and body works. Thank you so much Morgan! Yesterday we went to the post office and the woman that waited on us was so kind. We got to share with her what we were doing and she blessed us by not charging us for postage for our postcards.

Today the girls and I woke up to the smell of fresh coffee brewing and enormous bagels. We snuggled together on all available furniture/floor space to watch a movie this morning. This afternoon we are making runs to Target, REI (camping store), and a few other places.

Pray for Mark as for the past few days his glands have been swollen and he’s been feeling unwell. As always, God has provided as Ken is a MD and Bonnie is a nurse. They are taking Mark in for a blood test today to determine if he has a mild form of the mumps (he was around children with mumps recently). If that is the case, he’ll stay with the Brown’s till he is well and ready to travel.

Also this is a reminder that we won’t have internet access for the next month while we’re in Nicaragua.

Here is a picture of a few of us in front of the house used in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. So cool!

Just a quick update… Jenny B., Christy, Jane and I all made a Target run this afternoon. We decided to meet up in Panera (which was next door) whenever we were done. So I made it over to Panera first and settled into a booth by the window, soon Jane came over. The lady across from me asked what we were studying and we ended up telling her about the World Race. Turns out she is a believer! It was such a blessing to meet her. At one point she was like ‘Um would you mind staying here and watching my stuff while I go to the ATM?’ She said God laid on her heart to support us. Wow! So we spent some time in Panera holding hands and praying together and it was an awesome experience. God is so good!
