Hurricane Stan that happened this past October not only caused a lot of damage by the wind and rain but it also caused most of the damage through mudslides. The house we are living in here in Panajachel, Guatemala was spared by the mudslide by about 20 feet! Praise the Lord!

As you can see by some of these pictures the size of the river was only about 6 yards wide prior to the storm, but after the rain and the mudslides off the mountain it became about 70 yards wide taking houses, cars, bridges and people in it’s path into Lake Atitlan. The huge boulders you see in the pictures were not there before the flood but were forced down the mountain.
