We arrived yesterday to Guatemala specifically Lake Atitlan and the village San Pedro. We drove down the most windy roads I have ever seen (San Fransico has nothing on these roads). After some time we found the base of the volcano. We had to choose 4 people from our team to hike up the volcano. So, Lloyd, Chad, Tauna, and myself started the looooong hike up.

I must tell you, that was a very difficult hike. In the past month I have not had much time for any personal exercise and I was a bit nervous how my body would hold up. The mountain was anywhere from 45-60 degree angles. The hike was beautiful and tiring so our guide made us walking sticks. I am so thankful for that because it really helped the hike. The four of us were able to really stick together and encourage each other up that volcano. Without God´s strength and the strength of our team, it would have been even more difficult.

The good news is….we made it! It took us a total of 7 hours. When we got to the top of the volcano it was just the best feeling. Tears began to roll down our face as we felt God´s presence engulf us through our broken bodies. At the top of the volcano, we looked straight up to heaven and the thick clouds above us opened to a perfect circle of blue sky. It was like God was telling us that He was there.

This morning I awoke beside Lake Atitlan that is totally surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I feel like I could stay here forever. There is a huge peace in my heart as I look at the vista. Tauna and I woke up this morning and walked and found a delicious restaurant as we sat at a table a few feet from the lake. It was very tranquil as we watched the boats and the locals. I could have sat there all day!

I thank God for all He is doing in my life during this trip! I look forward to when we start our ministry work in Guatemala. Love and Peace.
