“Beat The Drum” is a movie and program for students created by Bruce Wilkinson. It is a movie based on HIV/AIDS and myths
to the virus to inform the students. We stay in the school for 1 week with the same classes. The first day we show the Beat The
Drum movie and then the other days we use a workbook and discuss parts of the movie. We speak to the students on the dangers
of having sex before marriage and how to protect themselves from getting the virus or any STD. One day we separate the girls
from the boys and we talk to them concerning issues that they encounter at school.
We speak to them on how God created them and how they are special in the sight of God. We teach abstinence until marriage.
South Africa has a very high rate of HIV/AIDS and that is the most effective way that the virus can decrease in their country.
We have seen many come to the Lord in our sessions and we are able to counsel and pray with many of the students that have
been raped or abuses and even those that already are HIV positive.
God is moving through the schools in South Africa and I am honored to be apart of this wonderful program. I would love to come
back to South Africa and continue the work on BEAT THE DRUM!!! God bless you!
