Your love, oh Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness stretches
to the sky
Your righteousness is like
the mighty mountains
Your justice flows like the
ocean’s tide
India is far from the United States; here its primarily referred to as
“America.” Here its hot and humid. Here its filthy, crowded and seriously noisy! The Indian culture is modest and
hierarchical. The colors are plain and
dull yet also widely vivid. India is out
of most people’s reach. It is also out
of mind: unknown, forgotten and ignored.

I am an exception. I got to this far
off land. The World Racer not only puts
India within my reach, but under my very feet.
India is in my ears, my nose and my heart. The filth, the crowds and the noise surround
me. The people, religions and culture
occupy my mind. Yet, my mind and my
heart are limited by my humanity. I
don’t often like to admit limitation, but this is one I just can’t shake.

It is God’s great love that exceeds all space and time constraints. India is far from America, but no further to
the Lord than Houston from New Orleans.
The fact is that God’s LOVE covers all; it reaches to the heavens! Though the world is unequal in so many ways,
we can all rest assured in the fact that God’s justice remains fair and rolls
down like water (Amos 5:24). He is
just. He is faithful. He is merciful. He is our Lord God, Savior, Creator and
Healer.
I may not be able to comprehend the seemingly unfair plight of the lowest
caste, or feel comfortable with the gender bending culture of India, but I can
know that my God is the same God in southern India as He is in the southern
United States (though the worship is a bit more Pentecostal here) .
There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.
Thank you Jesus for giving us the assurance of your love, grace and
mercy. You are the Alpha, Omega-Beginning
and End. You remain the same through the
Ages…Thank you for being a constant in our ever changing, confusing,
contrasting, complicated world.
