one of my ministries this year is storytelling. what does that mean? glad you asked. the definition of storytelling is a person who tells stories. this is a very basic term but it truly is that simple, yet so necessary because people’s lives matter and God does miraculous things that need to be told. while photography is my first love, i have decided to take up videography as a side hobby [aka my version of storytelling] since i have the equipment, i figured i might as well let God use me. so, after praying this past month about how i could bless my host, i decided that it would be best to make a video of the best tour guide in cartagena – alex rocha [aka my ministry host].

even though alex is not considered extremely weathly, he is so rich in the love that he has for God, his family, and his community. he gives so much to others and is always looking for ways to give more. God saved him years ago from drug abuse and gang activity, which is really prevalent in his community [san francisco barrio]. alex actually lives in the same community that he grew up in so he can be used to further the kingdom in a spiritually dark area. he wants to bring light and to show God’s love to the people in the slums. this man exemplifies where Jesus would’ve been if He was here today. he goes where no one else would want to go and serves the least of these.

it was an honor and a pleasure being able to serve alongside alex and his family this month spreading light into such a dark place. he opened up a youth center four years ago teaching english classes and playing baseball with the kids from the streets. his daytime profession is a tour guide, which is how he is able to pay for the youth center. he is a one of a kind man and i am blessed to have gotten to know him. so without further ado, meet alex, the best tour guide in cartagena.

to hear more about his story and how he got to where he is now, one of my teammates, tera bradham, was able to put together a short testimony of his .

peace & blessings.
