If you thought God was telling you to leave home and head to Mozambique… how long would it take you to obey? What if you didn’t have the funds? Would you do it anyway? I honestly don’t know if I could… but this is just the beginning of the story of the Rudolph family’s journey here to Mozambique. Here’s a picture of their family (plus Kyle).

Their faith is astounding… in all things. Jaco told us this story from when he was in bible school which he explains as his turning point in really trusting God. He went to school on an emtpy tank of gas without enough money to fill them up on the way home. He was praying about it… but as soon as he stopped praying he started thinking through which classmate he would borrow the money from. He realized that this wasn’t real faith… he was praying and then making his own plans. So he decided to really just trust that God would provide the 50 Rand he needed. He decided to not tell anyone about it and let God work it out. So he went through several classes knowing the whole time that he would not make it home unless this money came through. At the end of his last class he was packing up his bag when a woman approached him and handed him and envelope with his name on it. He said thank you, went to his car, opened it up… and was looking at the 50 rand he needed.
It’s amazing what can happen when we trust God to that degree. They came to Mozambique without enough support. They moved from Mapute to Vilanculos and after weeks of house hunting were basically handed this beautiful house they live in now. Pretty much every time we get in the car Jaco is in the front seat praying “Abba Father I thank you that we will not get stuck today.” When they need money it shows up… when they need food… it arrives.
This same remarkable faith in God’s provision carries over into their ministry. Right now they are patiently waiting for money to come in to construct an orphanage. Currently there are 23 orphans that live in two tents. We got to go and stay with them for a few days… Jackie wrote a blog about our time there which you can read here. They have faith that God will provide enough for 3 meals a day for the kids and that funds will come in for construction. The other day there were no beans in Vilaculos (I don’t really know… it just happens here). So Jaco drove 6 hours round trip to another town to pick up beans for the children.

Their vision is to build a community that houses 350 orphans. They will have homes for 6 orphans and house parents (Mozambican couples). In this family style living children will learn what it’s like to live in a family and will have responsibilities as a family member. Funds will also go towards a well on property and for the food and clothes and other needs for each child. Right now we’re working on updating Become LESS. It should be up as soon as we can get to the right internet. In the meantime you can find out more about the orphanage and donate at: Mozambique Orphans
