Our Team has put together a website at www.becomeless.com . It was made in the hope that our supporters could have more of a chance to be involved with what we are doing on the field via support or giving our contacts to others so that they can be used by others. Check it out if you have time. We are still working out some of the kinks so let us know what you think. Thank you for everything, with out you guys we couldn’t partake in such an incredible journey.

Ministry/ Team Activities

This week was the start of our ministry here in the Philippines.  Colleen and Jackie are working for a local school in the mornings.  Colleen will help with the kindergarten class, while Jackie works with the 1st/2nd grade class. Kyle and Danny have been helping to make a retaining wall for the sewage that runs down the street.  They have worked on this project for 3 days this week.  They will continue on this week.  Sarah and Lindsey have been helping at the children’s home.  They get to play with the children and have some fun.  On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, the whole team got to go swimming.  Swimming was a great time to get to know the children at the children’s home and have some fun. The team went to a basketball game on Wednesday night.  It was nice to get out and cheer on a game.  Team LESS was able to have a traditional Thanksgiving with 9 new friends that are helping out at the children’s home.  Saturday brought a fun day for the team.  It was Kyle’s birthday and so the team got to go out and have some fun.  The activity of the day was paintballing.  It was a first for most of the team and luckily not too many bruises were felt.  Saturday night was spent at the school playing basketball and showing video.

What We Are Doing—A typical day…

A couple of us are usually up at the crack of dawn to go jogging and some are up early for quiet time.  As a team, we are sitting together by seven with a fresh cup of coffee getting ready to pray and do our daily devotional.  Shortly after prayer, we sit down together for breakfast.  After breakfast, Jackie and Colleen set out for the Cuatro Christian School to teach.  Sarah and Lindsey walk up the street to the children’s home to play with kids.  Danny and Kyle walk up the road to help out with the sewage/septic project.

Around noon we usually all meet back together at the house to have lunch together.

After lunch, we have a bunch of different options.  Danny and Kyle get to go back to the sewage/septic project.  Some days we bring the kids from the children’s home to a pool to go swimming.  We have basketball and volleyball leagues that we have been asked to participate in.  Sarah has been helping out by coaching rugby up at Faith Academy, a high school for kids of missionaries.  This week, a couple of pro baseball players will be here and Danny and Kyle have been asked to help out with a program that they will run.  Danny will also be helping DJ, one of our hosts, with a website design project.  When things are slow, we can run up the street and play with kids.

Before the kids’ bedtime, we go read bed time stories and have devotionals with them.  We will also be staying overnight with the kids at the home a night a week and the some of the girls have offered to stay up watching some little babies next door.

Spiritual Discussions

Every morning, we have been meeting as a team to pray together and have a devotion.  Each team member has a day of the week that they share something from Scripture that God is teaching them.  This has been so beneficial for our team, and it has caused us to be more open and vulnerable with each other.  This month we have also been able to eat our meals together and spend more time with each other than we did in Cambodia.  This Philippines has been such blessing to our team in many ways, and we are thankful for what the Lord is doing.

Prayer Requests

-Danny’s toe is infected, please pray for healing
-For God to strip down Kyle more and that God will reveal to him who He really is (see his blog for more details)
-The Children’s Home
-Our team has been fighting the tiredness/blah feeling
-Continued team unity and quality time

Cultural Quirkiness

Filipinos use a lot of facial expressions to communicate.  Do not be offended by the raised eyebrows here. That is just one way of saying hello.  Also if you ask where something is it is not uncommon for someone to point to it with their puckered lips.
