How is it already November? The weather here makes me feel like it is still the middle of summer…and by here I mean Thailand. We left Penang Thursday morning, and spent a few days in Kuala Lumpar resting and checking out the twin towers. It was fun to be all together as a larger group again. We are travelling as a squad and that makes things pretty interesting. We flew into Bangkok late Saturday evening.

I had quite an embarassing moment at the airport! After landing, we loaded up all our bags on carts and proceeded to this flat escalator type thing that took us down to a lower level. To make the cart move, you press down the handle and push forward. Sounds simple enough right? Wrong. I had my teammate Amy behind me with another cart. Bags started falling off as we went further down the track and in my attempt to pick them up, I lost my focus and ended up backing up the entire line of people. I had visions of getting run over by everyone. The workers had to come rescue me and help me get moving again. It was quite hilarious and gave everyone a good laugh.
While here, we are taking time to relax, refresh, and check in with our leaders to discuss how we have been doing and handling our time thus far on the race. We also were sent on a scavenger hunt to try interacting with some of the locals and get familiar with the area. One of the items on our scavenger hunt was to try something new. I got to try grasshopper and I’m pretty sure that will be the last time:) It wasn’t horrible…salty at first, and then, very crunchy.
Below is a video my teammate Sarah made, with clips from our time in Malaysia. There are a few clips of us at our ministry sites, Kawan and The Lighthouse– feeding the homeless, as well as a few of us working at the hospital. (At the hospital, we helped fundraise money for children needing new hearts, as well as partnered with the chaplain to pray for patients.) However, the majority is video of our days off and just goofing around our apartment. I hope you enjoy!
Thank you for your support and love. Please know that I am thinking of you all the time and missing you dearly. Sending love across the miles. Love, love, love you all!
