Let the Bed Bugs Bite

So while that cute little saying brings up nostalgic memories from being tucked in to bed as a child, it has a whole new meaning to me now. I never actually even knew what bed bugs look like until last week. They are small, brown little bugs that leave a nasty bite. We had to have our room in the hostel sprayed today, because quite a few of us were waking up to find them crawling on our mattresses. Not ideal, but hardly anything to complain about either.
This past week my teammates and I helped to build a retaining wall for a young girl from church. Before laying the cement and cinder blocks down, we had to dig up all the dirt and tear down some of the old plywood walls. Every shovel of dirt I removed, I uncovered a whole army of bugs. I have never seen so many cockroaches, centipedes, and large spiders in my life. All I kept thinking was…this is the ground they sleep on. Seeing the bugs they are living amidst…I think I can handle a few bed bugs.
Here is one side of the wall we helped to build.

I will leave images of the bugs up to your imaginations, but I just have to give a shout out to my favorite bug of all…that’s you Tessbug. Love and miss you so!
