Last week my team and I helped sort through donations and began wrapping Christmas gifts for the children living at the dump. I found myself thinking, “How can this be our last week here already?”. We spent Thursday evening with the volunteers from the church and shared a time of prayer and worship together. A lot of tears were shed as we hugged everyone good-bye. We spent the last day with our contacts, Ron and Joanna, seeing a more scenic part of the Phlippines. We took a boat ride and hiked to the top of Taal volcano. Then finished the day with dinner from  McDonald’s…after a month of rice, pancakes, and spaghetti, I was lovin it:)

I have been posting pictures on facebook, but for those of you who don’t check that regularly I thought I would post a few highlights from the month. I will miss this place and all the people I have come to love. A huge thank you to Ron and Joanna for making our time in Tondo so amazing. We love you and you will definitely be missed. I have been touched by your servant hearts.

Kelsie and I…this was our ride around town.

We often felt like we were in a parade waving to everyone and anyone we saw.

I will miss…
– being called “Ate Sarah” or hearing “Hi Mom”.
– our hostel, Friendly’s
– jeepneys and trikes
– living and working besides Team PLJ
– church/youth group at PCF
– karaoke everywhere you turn
– fried bananas
…and so much more.
The Philippines will always have a special place in my heart.

I was encouraged when we sang these verses from the Chirs Tomlin song,”God of this City,” last week at youth group. While I am sad to leave, I know that…
“Greater things have yet to come and greater things are still to be done in this City.”
