MALAYSIAN HAPPENINGS

If church service does't last for at least 3 hours then you haven't been to church

People love white people and will just walk up to you and "click" …they just took a picture of you

Every restaurant serves basically the same thing.. but they think they are different

As soon as you walk into a store you are followed around by one of the ten workers in that store… is it that I'm white or from America?

You can take a taxi for about 5 ringgits ( 1.50 USD) to go for about 15 to 20 minutes with four other people

You eventually just nod your head when speaking to someone because even though you tell them you do not understand them they continue to talk to you anyway

You have perfected the squatty potty on… DAY 5!!!

If you do not move at the speed of light when crossing the road then you will be hit

There is no such thing as a speed limit and who cares if the light is red… they will go anyway

You tend to fall asleep in random places… the heat and your exhaustion get to you

You will sit on dirty floors, on the side walk or stand in front of a restaurant just for free wi-fi

You eventually forget about the rats that live above you and when you see them you no longer scream… it becomes a norm

Malaysia has some of the best hospitality I have ever had. Such a blessing to be around these people.

Malaysia is a mixture of Malays, Indians, Chinese and Orang Asli (Original People). They all think they rule the land.

You forget what is it like to talk to someone on the phone. By month three this should be a breeze!!

You have the monorail system down pat.. you use it everyday!

TIP for future racers:

You can't think about next month. Live in the present and focus on what your ministry is at this time, be present with the Lord and stay observant towards your surroundings.

Spend quality time with God every single day. During the first month your thoughts become chaotic and things are very overwhelming being on the other side of the world. Without God on your side this will be a very long and traitorous race for you.

Watch out for any street food. The food either likes you or it doesn't and you become sick.

Talk to your parents when you can. Just because it is month one don't forget about them. You may not have internet next month.
