Dear Family, Friends, and Random Blog-Stalkers,
I hope this letter finds you well! It’s hard to believe how quickly time is flying anymore. I just started my junior year at UNC Greensboro, working toward a degree in Communication Studies, and serving on leadership with Cru. Over the past three summers, I’ve had really incredible opportunities to serve overseas in Romania, Thailand, and then leading a team of high school girls in Uganda this past summer. Going through the role change from participant to leader definitely taught me a lot and was such a rewarding experience! I was blessed with a team of 14 incredible young women and loved being able to help them grow in their walk with the Lord. Coming home, I began to really pray about where God was leading me next in a new season of life. His answer was truly God-sized, and I’m writing to share about it with you!
In September 2013, I will be leaving on The World Race, an 11 month mission trip through Adventures In Missions which goes to 11 different countries. Over these 11 months, I’ll be one of 60 members on the U squad, which will be split up into multiple teams of roughly 7 members. We’ll spend a month in each country doing anything and everything from speaking in churches, feeding the hungry, loving orphans and widows, and helping with construction work! Each World Race route is different, but the U squad will be spending time in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, China, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Romania, and Ukraine. Not only will I be experiencing some new countries and cultures, but I’ll be returning to Thailand and Uganda as well!
Because this trip is 11 months long, the fundraising process can happen in a few new ways! In total, I have to raise $15,500. However, I have until our sixth month on the field to be fully funded! I’d ask that you prayerfully consider helping support me financially. This can be done in many ways. First, you can give a one time gift or you can commit to be a monthly sponsor! To do this, just go to the "Support Me!" link on the left hand side of the page. If 70 people committed to giving just $20 a month, I would be fully funded!
