"Happy Mother's Day" means more
Than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots of things
We never get to say.
It means I love you first of all,
Then thanks for all you do.
It means you mean a lot to me,
And that I honor you.
But most of all, I guess it means
That I am thinking of
Your happiness on this, your day,
With pleasure and with love."

I have an amazing mother. She has been one of my biggest encouragers not only on the race but in life. She has been my listening board when I call her at crazy hours of the day due to the time differences when I just need to say hi, tell her about my day or even just hear her voice. She told me before I left that the only reason she didn’t want me to go was that she would miss me. I know that I have one of the most proud mothers in the world! I would not be the person I am today if it wasn’t for my mom. She instilled confidence and ambition in me through example and by truly believing that I can excel in any endeavor in life. I love that my mom sends me messages just telling me about her day and that she and my dad wrote secret notes and hid them in my back pack. I saved all of them and read them often. I wish I could be home to give my mom a hug on the day that we celebrate mom’s but know that the woman I am transforming into during this race is an amazing gift in its self and that she will receive not a hug but more of an attack of my body flying on to her in less than four months.
This is the morning I left for the race.

*I also have the best dad in the world but you will hear more about him on Fathers day*
